COVID-19 Pandemic Response Core Committee Member Feature: Dr Zarir F Udwadia

Zarir F Udwadia MD, DNB, FCCP (USA) and FRCP (London) is a consultant respiratory specialist physician attached to the Parsee General Hospital, Hinduja Hospital, and Breach Candy Hospitals.

He is a leader in this field especially on the highly resistant MDR-TB. Whilst he has pioneering, international research in the fields of HIV, pneumonia, sleep medicine and lung fibrosis, TB, remains his over-riding passion. He has been invited to lecture on TB in several international congresses Global including guest orations at institutions like Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard Medical college, Boston and the Royal Society of Medicine, London.

He has 160 PubMed indexed publications in every leading international medical journal, and over 7000 citations to his credit.

He was the sole Indian invited by WHO, Geneva, to be on both the Drug Sensitive TB (2010) and MDR-TB (2018) Core Guidelines groups.In 2018 he was invited to join both the USAID India End-TB alliance and the Global TB Network (GTN) to pursue their agenda of global TB elimination.

He is on the Core Committee of doctors elected by the Indian government to inform Bombay’s COVID-19 pandemic response.
