Member Society Highlight: MSA

The Mongolian Society of Allergology (MSA) was founded in April, 2002 initiated by a group of young researchers, university professors and allergy doctors and we held our first annual meeting in June 2002. Currently, MSA has over 100 active members of allergists, dermatologists, internists, pediatricians, ENT and immunologists. Since MSA was found, we conduct regular annual meetings for the members, focusing to develop collaboration with world and regional allergy organizations and organize continuing medical educational courses. The mission of MSA is to being a leading organization in the field of allergy and clinical immunology in the Asia Pacific region.


In 2002, The first delegates from MSA, President S.Munkhbayarlakh, board members Professor T.Zevgee and Dr. N.Erdenebayar attended the Emerging Societies meeting of World Allergy Organization in collaboration with ACAAI and APAAACI in Seoul, Korea. They introduced main activities and future goals of the MSA in the Emerging Societies meeting.


Professor Bob Lanier (President of ACAAI) visited and attended second annual meeting of MSA in June, 2004. He was the first invited speaker of MSA from ACAAI and he introduced to us the anti-IgE treatment of asthma.

Professor Sohei Makino was President of APAAACI in 2006-2007. He was the first speaker and collaborator from APAAACI to attend the annual meeting of MSA. Professor Sohei Makino launched a bright cooperation between APAAACI and MSA since 2006. At that time, MSA hosted International Educational Exchange Program of AAAAI and Prof G. Shepherd visited Mongolia and she shared her excellent knowledge with Mongolian specialists.

The MSA received the first WATS of World Allergy Organization held in collaboration with APAPARI and a joint symposium on 20-21 June, 2014 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia during the WAO Presidency of Prof Ruby Pawankar (2012-2013). At that time the international speakers President of WAO Professor Ruby Pawankar, board member WAO Professor Stanley Fineman and Professor Jiu Yao Wang and Prof Mila Bautista from APAPARI educated Mongolian allergists and gave excellent lectures to participants of this meeting

The MSA have continued to develop fruitful cooperation between WAO and MSA. 18 members of the MSA participated to the XXIV World Allergy Congress and 6 junior allergists invited to the Training School 2015 of the WAO in 14-17, Oct 2015 in Seoul, Korea.

The MSA organized the “14th Annual Meeting of MSA and APAPARI/APAAACI joint conference” on 29 June – 2 July 2017, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. More than 80 Mongolian and foreign specialists participated. Minister of Health Prof. Tsogtsetseg Ayush and President of MSA Prof Munkhbayarlakh Sonomjamts gave a welcoming speech at the Opening Ceremony. A major part of the Conference program was devoted to the issues of common allergies, specially in children, and were covered in plenary lectures by Professor Ruby Pawankar (President-Elect of APAAACI), Professor Jiu-Yao Wang (Vice President of APAAACI) and Professor Hugo van Bever (Board of Directors of APAPARI). Practical and rare topics were presented by Professor Yoon-Seok Chang (Secretary General of APAAACI) and invited speaker Prof Arja Viinanen (Honorary member of MSA).

The 15th Annual meeting of MSA with topic “Treatment, Prevention and Modernization of Allergic Diseases” was held on 22-23, June 2018. At that time, we hosted World Allergy Training School 2018 of the WAO and WAO, ACAAI joint conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In this time, MSA invited junior allergists and specialists from 2 neighbor countries of Mongolia to the WATS and 4 participants from Buriyat Republic of Russian Federation and 5 participants from Inner Mongolia of Republic of China attended.

Mongolian young researchers and specialists participated in the APAAACI 2019 International Congress joint Chinese Society of Allergology from 5-7 September 2019 in Beijing, Republic of China and presented highlights and latest data.
