Professor Stephen Holgate Receives Knighthood on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List

secretariat067

It’s my greatest honour and pleasure on behalf of myself, the APAAACI leadership, its membership and the entire APAAACI community to heartily congratulate Professor Stephen Holgate, in receiving the knighthood on the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Prof. Holgate (Sir Stephen Holgate) is the Medical Research Council Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology and Honorary Consultant Physician within the University’s Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.

Prof. Holgate was part of a team that guided the government during the development of its coronavirus policies while making a terrific effort to create a vaccine against the deadly virus. He was deservedly knighted for his services to medical research. Much of his research has played an integral role during the first months of the Covid-19 effort.

We are privileged to have Prof. Holgate as an International Advisor to APAAACI’s Severe Asthma Committee, the COVID-19 program and has been guiding many of APAAACI’s initiatives (view his recent webinar here). Personally, I have also had the pleasure to work with him on several other platforms including in WAO and CIA.

With our heartfelt gratitude and utmost pride, we celebrate Prof. Holgate for this most well deserved honour, and wish him the very best. We also look forward to his continued guidance and leadership to APAAACI. Congratulations Sir Stephen Holgate!!

Ruby Pawankar,

President, APAAACI
